In 2005 Milligan was appointed partner to the Manchester Airport Group to work with their in-house team to manage and drive non-aeronautical revenues at Manchester Airport.
Around 20 million passengers fly in and out of Manchester Airport’s 3 terminals each year.
We recognised that for shops and restaurants in airports to work, truly successfully, time is key. For passengers to shop they must be in a relaxed state of mind.
Following considerable research into the needs and mindsets of the customer, we are working with the Manchester Airport team to carry out an £80 million plus redevelopment of all three terminals.
This includes a £50 million redevelopment of Terminal 1 to take customers straight through check-in and an updated and improved security area into a new welcoming, innovative and comfortable airside space, which was completed in July 2009.
The new retail offer at T1 includes a department store called Attitude selling brands including Hugo Boss, Escada, Hilfiger, Kenneth Cole, Burberry, Bally and a large sunglasses and jewellery store called Temptation which stocks brands including Gucci, Prada, DKNY, Diesel, D&G, Police, Tissot and Dior
Other new stores include Kurt Geiger, Mango, Fat Face and Monsoon which join the existing Accessorize, Dixons, Starbucks, Body Shop, Tie Rack and WHS Books. Another first for Manchester airport, ‘BeRelax’ will offer a spa for passengers, with massages and beauty treatments.
The £14million Terminal 2 enhancement works are due to be completed in Summer 2009. Customers will be able to enjoy the new Biza as well as Brodericks Love Coffee, a brand new, locally run concept, WHS Books, Dixons, a large new food and bar area with Burger King as well as Soho Coffee and the Real Food Company.
The retail and catering offer has been specially selected in response to passenger feedback on what facilities they would like to see at the airport.
Our work at Manchester Airport is committed to meeting the needs of the customers and providing them with an enjoyable airport experience whilst differentiating it from other airport retail businesses around the world.
Milligan is responsible for managing the retail environment with the Manchester Airport retail team which handles commercial revenues of over £60m a year.
